Transport Bureau (DSAT) Director Kelvin Lam Hin San said yesterday that the local government still does not have a timetable as to when the planned reciprocal driving-licence recognition deal with the mainland authorities will be signed, adding that the administrative procedures by both sides for inking the deal were still underway.
The transport chief also reaffirmed that the planned reciprocal driving-licence recognition scheme aims to benefit local residents by making it more convenient for them to work and do business on the mainland.
Lam made the remarks when asked by the media yesterday about the joint organisation of a protest to be held tomorrow by two groups against the government’s plan to sign a reciprocal driving-licence recognition deal with the mainland.
