A 52-year-old local man had the distal phalange of a finger completely severed and the distal phalange of another finger partially severed when using a wood-cutting machine in his shop – which is under renovation – in an alley in Ha Van district yesterday afternoon, the Fire Services Bureau (CB) said in a statement.
Ha Van is the Chinese name for the Praia do Manduco neighbourhood in the Inner Harbour area near Barra.
After receiving a report about the accident at around 3:30 p.m., firemen and paramedics rushed to the scene and later found and retrieved the severed distal phalange of the finger at the scene. The man was taken to the private Kiang Wu Hospital for emergency treatment. He was in a stable condition after receiving treatment last night, according to the bureau.
