Construction material imports fall 42 pct in Jan-Feb

Macau’s imports of construction materials fell by 41.7 percent to 203 million patacas year-on-year in the first two months of the year, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced.

According to a DSEC statement last week, mobile phone imports dropped by 29.4 percent to 1.06 billion patacas in January-February, when gold jewellery imports fell by 11.6 percent to 1.2 billion patacas.

However, imports of watches rose by 6.5 percent to 1.1 billion patacas and imports of garments and footwear increased by 34.6 percent to 1.6 billion patacas. Imports of beauty, cosmetic and skin-care products grew by 32.8 percent to 984 million patacas.
