The local airport handled 2.33 million passengers in the first quarter, up 17 percent year-on-year, the Macau International Airport Company (CAM) said in a statement yesterday.
According to the statement, flight movements also recorded an increase of 17 percent year-on-year to over 18,000 movements in the first quarter. The daily average traffic at the airport in Taipa reached 25,000 passengers and 205 flight movements in the first three months of this year.
The airport company added that with the continuous growth in the number of air routes and new airlines entering the market, the Chinese mainland, Taiwan and Southeast Asia recorded passenger increases of 28 percent, 4 percent and 14 percent respectively compared to the same period of last year.
