Security Forces to attend anti-torture workshop

Public Security Forces personnel will attend a 5-day anti-torture workshop next week, the Legal Affairs Bureau (DSAJ) said in a statement yesterday.

According to the statement, the workshop will be conducted in the English language with simultaneous translation into Cantonese. The 30-hour workshop will include subjects such as policing and human rights, the use of force, ethical analysis, search and apprehension, conditions of detention, police and vulnerable groups, international standards, human rights in the organisation, management and operational command of the police, and accountability and complaints analysis.

The workshop on the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CAT) will be jointly organised by the Legal Affairs Bureau, Academy of the Public Security Forces (ESFSM) and Legal and Judicial Training Centre (CFJJ). It will be held at the auditorium of the Judiciary Police School for personnel of the Unitary Police Service (SPU), Customs Service, Judiciary Police (PJ) and Public Security Police (PSP).
