The Macau Government Spokesperson’s Office said in a terse statement yesterday that Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On has decided to appeal a recent ruling by the Court of Second Instance (TSI) which had accepted an appeal by Macau’s former top meteorologist Fong Soi Kun against his dismissal in the wake of deadly Super Typhoon Hato, which hit Macau in August 2017.
According to the statement, Chui decided to appeal to the Court of Final Appeal (TUI) after consulting his legal advisors.
Fong was dismissed by Chui in the wake of disciplinary proceedings over his controversial hoisting of typhoon warning signals when Hato was approaching Macau.
