A local man was arrested for allegedly raping his estranged wife in his flat in Toi San district on Friday afternoon, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Choi Ian Fai said during a special press conference yesterday.
Choi identified the suspect as a 45-year-old man surnamed Lai. He told the police that he works as a casino security guard in Cotai. The victim is around 50 years old. She told the police that she works in another casino. Her surname was not released.
The couple were introduced by friends and fell in love. They got married in 2012 and lived in a flat which Lai rented in a residential building in Avenida de Artur Tamagnini Barbosa in Toi San district. Since the couple had been quarrelling over financial issues in recent years, the victim moved out and both have lived separately since November last year. They did not contact each other afterwards, according to Choi.
