Local engineer makes bespoke cufflinks

With the encouragement of his son a few years ago, semi-retired engineer Sam Io Ip started making cufflinks as a hobby, which he is now selling in Macau and Hong Kong.

Speaking to MPD Weekender earlier this month near Kun Iam Temple, Sam and his son Joe explained how it all started and why cufflinks – especially as not many men nowadays use them.

Joe explained that to him growing up cufflinks represented a “successful man” and he thought that they should be a small piece of artwork by themselves.
