The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a non-resident worker on Monday for producing counterfeit notes on normal A4 paper in a hotel where he worked, PJ spokesman Leng Kam Lon said during a special press conference yesterday.

According to Leng, the 46-year-old suspect surnamed Zhao is from the mainland. He told the police he works as an engineering department worker in a hotel in Cotai.

Between February and April, a bank and a retail shop near the Barrier Gate checkpoint reported to the police that they had been given counterfeit banknotes. Zhao used a photocopying machine to produce the bogus Hong Kong dollar and pataca banknotes, Leng pointed out.
