The taxi driver who injured two women and a baby on Monday evening in a case that has sent shock waves through the local community has been detained and transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) for dangerous driving, causing bodily harm and not stopping to give way to pedestrians on a zebra crossing, the Public Security Police (PSP) said in a statement yesterday.
The statement said that the incident happened at about 10 p.m. on Monday in Avenida Dr. Sun Yat-sen in the direction from the Macau Science Centre to Sands Macau where a taxi driver hit three people on a zebra crossing, causing serious injury to two of them. However, the statement did not specify who among the trio were seriously injured. The toddler was in a pushchair when the accident happened.
As reported yesterday, the trio comprises a 50-year-old grandmother, her 29-year-old daughter and two-year-old granddaughter. All three are from the mainland holding a Hong Kong-Macau travel permit.
