A coach believed to have suffered brake failure crashed into a café in Avenida de Sidónio Pais after coming out of the Guia Hill Tunnel last Thursday, the Public Security Police (PSP) has announced.
The coach came to an abrupt stop after crashing through the pavement barrier in front of the café and damaging the metal gate of Café Rosa.
The coach driven by a local resident surnamed Chu had 44 passengers on board – 43 tourists from Japan taking part in a tour group and a local male tour guide surnamed Leong – when the crash happened. No one was injured in the accident. Most of the 43 tourists are males.
