The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested three loan sharks on Friday for causing the death of a gambler who owed them money after holding him in against his will in the guestroom of an inn on the peninsula and physically attacking him there, PJ spokesman Leng Kam Lon announced during a special press conference on Friday.

The three male suspects from the mainland sent the victim’s family video clips they had taken showing them violently attacking the victim, who is in his forties and a fellow mainlander, to put pressure on his family to pay up, according to Leng.

Apparently tormented by pangs of conscience, one of the three suspects decided to report the case to the police one hour after they found the victim lying unconscious on the bed in the guestroom on Friday morning, following the victim’s false imprisonment and violent attacks that lasted almost two days, according to Leng.
