Local telecom operator CTM’s CEO Vandy Poon Fuk Hei said yesterday that about 100 of its customers were affected by a cyberattack yesterday morning that was resolved in about 10 minutes.

Poon made the remarks while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the CTM Wi-Fi launch ceremony at a social service facility under the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) in Areia Preta.

In response to reporters’ questions about the cyberattack after residents said they couldn’t go online nor make voice calls, Poon said that “quite a powerful” cyberattack had hit its network at 9:01 a.m.
