A 45-year-old local woman who works at the Galaxy Macau casino-hotel resort in Cotai has come down with rubella (also known as German measles), pushing the total number of rubella cases reported in Macau to 34 so far this year, the Health Bureau (SSM) said in a statement yesterday.
According to the statement, the casino worker came down with a fever and a sore throat last Friday. She developed a rash on her face and neck last Saturday and then sought treatment at the Galaxy staff clinic.
As symptoms persisted, she sought treatment at the private Kiang Wu Hospital on Sunday and was diagnosed with rubella yesterday, the statement said.
