The government confirmed a series of events to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and the 20th anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland yesterday, with the aim of preparing well for the diversion of visitors by coordinating the upcoming celebratory events with the Central District Social Services Consultative Committee.

A regular closed-door meeting of the government-appointed committee was held yesterday at Patane Activity Centre in the Inner Harbour district about the arrangements for the two important anniversaries. The meeting was attended by about 30 officials and committee members. Media representatives were allowed to attend the first few minutes of the meeting.

Two representatives of the committee spoke to reporters after the meeting.
