Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) Vice President Pang Chuan told a seminar yesterday there was an urgency to optimise local schools’ space and facilities in order to provide a better education environment, which would help prepare pupils for the competitive environment in the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
The seminar was held by the MUST Faculty of Humanities and Arts on the private university’s campus in Taipa about the space, facilities and architectural design of local schools. It was attended by about 50 government officials and representatives from the academic and engineering community.
Pang noted that the government launched its “Ten-Year Plan for the Development of Non-Tertiary Education (2011-2020)” in 2011, adding that the government was keeping a close eye on the local birth rate and the changing number of pupils, with the aim of promoting the implementation of small class teaching in schools of about 35 pupils per class.
