Public bus passengers can start to pay bus fares with the MPay application on their mobile phones from next Friday (June 7), according to a statement by the Transport Bureau (DSAT) yesterday.
The bus fares when using MPay will be the same as the fares when using MacauPass cards, according to the statement. MPay is a third-party mobile payment platform run by MacauPass.
Currently, all passengers paying with cash pay six patacas per trip on all routes. Passengers using MacauPass cards pay three patacas on regular routes and four patacas on express routes. Pupils and students paying with their MacauPass cards pay 1.50 patacas for regular routes and two patacas for express routes. Senior citizens aged 65 and above and the disabled holding a MacauPass card are exempted from paying any public bus fares. Express routes refer to those with an “X” attached to the respective bus route number.
