Patrick Chiu Chi Chong, a Pan Mac Junior Chamber event coordinator, said yesterday the aim of having the “2019 Adult Commitment Day” was to encourage teenagers who are “soon-to-be” 18 years old, to vow that they would be responsible citizens and “positive assets” to the city.

Chiu spoke to reporters on the sidelines of the event organised by the chamber at the School of the Nations in Taipa. Chiu added he hoped that through the event, teenagers could learn more about being socially responsible.

According to a statement provided by the chamber, over 300 participants were involved in yesterday’s 2019 Adult Commitment Day. There were eighteen “soon-to-be adults” representatives on the stage who swore under the national flag and the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) regional flag, that they would be responsible and committed adults and live a purposeful life.
