On behalf of the local government, Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On has expressed his “sincere gratitude” for the appreciation and affection shown by President Xi Jinping for local students by responding to a letter that pupils from the Premier School Affiliated to Hou Kong Middle School in Taipa had sent to him.
According to a statement by Chui’s office on Saturday, Xi’s letter should be seen as a “great incentive” not only for Macau’s pupils and education professionals but also for the population in general. Chui said the letter showed Xi’s kindness and affection as well as the confidence and expectations that the nation’s leaders and the central government have in all students and youngsters in Macau.
The letter was delivered to the school by the director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government, Fu Ziying, on Friday – on the eve of International Children’s Day. Fu, who headed a delegation from his office, met with the students who had sent the letter to Xi.
