5 nabbed for sham marriage, impersonating father-son relationship

The Public Security Police (PSP) have arrested five people for their alleged involvement in a marriage of convenience, impersonating a father-son relationship and fraudulently obtaining a non-resident worker permit, PSP spokesman Ho Ka Kit said during a regular press conference yesterday.

According to Ho, the first suspect is a 40-year-old woman surnamed Liu. She told the police she is a businesswoman from the mainland. The second and third suspects are a couple from the mainland. The husband is surnamed Liu. He told the police that he works as a sales assistant in Macau. The wife is surnamed Dai. She told the police she was a non-resident worker employed in a local Chinese herb and medicine shop. Both are in their forties. The fourth suspect is a local resident surnamed Lao who is in his sixties. He is the father of the first female suspect.

The two Lius are not related.
