Construction material imports fall 40.8 pct in Jan-April

Macau’s imports of construction materials fell by 40.8 percent year-on-year to 473 million patacas in the first four months of the year, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced.

According to a DSEC statement on Friday, construction material imports in April dropped by 31.6 percent year-on-year to 139 million patacas, indicating a marked decline in building construction.

Overall imports fell by 1.1 percent to 28.6 billion patacas in the first four months of the year, while domestic exports declined by 18.1 percent to 437 million patacas. However, re-exports, which accounted for 90.5 percent of all exports, rose by 17.6 percent to 4.1 billion patacas.
