The Executive Council announced yesterday that the government has drafted a bill amending the Labour Relations Law, which proposes five days paid paternity leave and an increase in the number of days for statutory paid maternity leave to 70 days from the current 56 days.
The proposed changes would apply to the private sector. Macau’s public servants enjoy many more generous fringe benefits than their counterparts in the private sector.
Leong Heng Teng, spokesman for the government’s top advisory body, made the announcement during a press conference at Government Headquarters yesterday. The amendment bill will be submitted in due course to the Legislative Assembly (AL) for debate and vote.
