Hoi Weng Chong, a well-known protester widely known in Cantonese as “the Man in Red”) and director of the now defunct Gong Ming Newspaper (“Gong Ming” means “bright” in Cantonese), announced yesterday that he plans to run in the chief executive election slated to take place in August.
Hoi handed in a letter about his reasons for participating in the chief executive election and his political platform to a representative of the Electoral Affairs Commission for Chief Executive Election at the Public Administration Building in Rua do Campo yesterday morning.
Hoi told reporters about his plan to run for the city’s top job outside the Public Administration Building.
