A 68-year-old man from Hong Kong was hired by a gang to sell drugs in Macau, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said during a special press conference yesterday.

The suspect, surnamed Chu, was caught red-handed in the early hours of yesterday in Areia Preta district when he was about to sell drugs to clients. After his arrest, the unemployed man told the police that he had been hired by the gang for a “salary” of HK$2,000 per day as he needed money to repay his debts.

According to Lei, the Judiciary Police were recently tipped off that someone had been hired by a Hong Kong gang to sell drugs in Macau. After investigating, PJ officers identified Chu as the suspected drug pusher and also confirmed that he was primarily selling drugs to clients in Areia Preta district.
