Macau’s extradition bill still being drafted: law office

Macau’s extradition bill is still being drafted, the Legal Affairs Bureau (DSAJ) said in a written reply to an interpellation by lawmaker Leong Son Iok, Radio Macau reported yesterday.

According to the Portuguese-language radio channel of government-owned broadcaster TDM, the bureau said in its reply that the government is still studying the matter, pointing out that the local government has exchanged views with the mainland and Hong Kong authorities on the matter.

In his interpellation, Leong had asked the government whether it had already resolved the “problems” that resulted in its decision to withdraw its extradition bill from the Legislative Assembly. The government had submitted the bill to the legislature in 2015. Since then the matter has been pending.
