A 60-year-old local worker died yesterday after falling to the ground outside Grand Emperor Hotel in Nam Van from a height of 11 metres when he was setting up scaffolding there on Sunday, the police said yesterday.
According to a statement by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) on Sunday, the accident happened near the hotel’s main entrance in Avenida Comercial de Macau at around 3 p.m. on Sunday, when the worker fell from the scaffolding on the hotel’s third floor. The victim, who suffered serious head injuries, was rushed to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre for emergency treatment.
The Public Security Police (PSP) said in a statement that the worker died at the hospital at around 4 a.m. yesterday after emergency treatment to save his life had failed. The case has been transferred to the Judiciary Police (PJ) for further investigation.
