Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) President Mok Ian Ian said yesterday that the ‘Encounter in Macau – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries’ will be a regional highlight in the first ‘Greater Bay Area Culture and Arts Festival’ starting next Monday.

Mok made the remarks in a speech during yesterday’s launch ceremony for the second ‘Encounter in Macau – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries’ at the Macau Cultural Centre in Nape. The festival is co-organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) in conjunction with the Secretariat of Social Affairs.

Mok said the aim of the festival was to “take culture as the link and arts as the carrier, seeking by means of exchange and events to accentuate further the aura, character and charm of the cultural background of both languages [Chinese and Portuguese], as well as the historical evolution of how these culture have coexisted in harmony over the years without losing their own identities.”
