A young woman has fallen victim to an online love scam in which she lost 59,300 patacas, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Leng Kam Lon said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Leng said the victim is a local woman in her twenties who is single. Her surname was not released. The personal information of the suspect was not released either.
According to Leng, the victim told the police that she met a man online in April who told her that he was a US soldier deployed overseas in different regions, after which they started an online relationship and stayed in touch through an app. They never met face to face.
