Cleaner’s cigarette end sets scooter alight: police

The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a 60-year-old local man on Tuesday for causing a fire which partially burnt a scooter parked on a pavement in Zape after leaving a still lit cigarette end nearby last week, PJ spokesman Leng Kam Lon said during a regular press conference.

The suspect surnamed Tam works as a cleaner.

The case was first announced in a PJ statement last Monday, according to which the Judiciary Police received a report from the Public Security Police (PSP) at 12:40 p.m. on that day that a scooter parked on the pavement outside a Chinese restaurant in Rua de Foshan in Zape had been burnt.
