The local organiser of Waste-No-Mall, Angus Lam Sui Piu, brought a new recycling concept to Macau six months ago with the aim of promoting environmental protection and the use of less plastic.

Lam is a full-time volunteer who provides maintenance services for the elderly during the week and organises environmental protection events every weekend. He told The Macau Post Daily last week: “Waste-No-Mall is a regular community-based event from Hong Kong in which residents voluntarily set up recycling bins in various residential public areas, and afterwards take the recycling materials to recycling companies whose operations are highly transparent.”

Lam pointed out that he was impressed by the project’s idea and brought it to Macau, adding that “Waste-No-Mall means once the rubbish is brought to us, it’s not rubbish anymore, all items are resources.”
