Local resident Chan Weng Fu, the owner of Macao Iao Kei Motor Air-conditioning & Engineering Company, announced yesterday that he plans to run in the chief executive election next month, promising a 200,000 pataca handout for each resident to invest.
Chan, born in 1951, made the announcement outside the Public Administration Building in Rua do Campo yesterday afternoon.
Chan told reporters that he has decided to run for the city’s top job as he wants to unite Macau and making the city more prosperous, adding that “Macau is a special place and there is a need to show Macau’s positive image to the world…but some things are still not good enough so I want to run in this election with the aim to improve the city.”
