The Macau Jiangmen Communal Society will continue to contribute to Macau’s “long-term stability” and “economic prosperity”, local businessman Ian Soi Kun, the group’s newly sworn-in president, said yesterday.
The society held a swearing-in ceremony of the new board members at Fisherman’s Wharf, which was attended by a number of high-ranking guests including Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On and his predecessor Edmund Ho Hau Wah, who is now a vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), as well as senior Jiangmen city officials.
Addressing the ceremony, Ian said the group would continue to support the governance of the chief executive and the local government according to the law. He also said the society would continue to grant annual scholarships to children of its members and provide financial support to the elderly members of their community.
