Fifteen people from a Cotai construction site were arrested by the Judiciary Police (PJ) on Tuesday and Wednesday for alleged document forgery and the illegal hiring of non-local workers, PJ spokesman Ho Chan Nam said at a special press conference yesterday.

Ho said all 15 suspects are males, aged 27 to 52. One of them is from Hong Kong, while the others are from the mainland. Ho noted that the illegal workers were paid 1,000 patacas per day.

According to Ho, the case was reported by a “large company” on Tuesday. The police went to the construction site in Cotai shortly after and seized 33 fake Macau identity cards and two bogus Construction Safety Cards. The police took a manager from the main contractor and three staff members from the subcontractor in for questioning later that day. The four suspects were arrested after the investigation.
