An 18-year-old youth from Hong Kong was hired by a man in Hong Kong to sell cocaine in Macau, a Public Security Police (PSP) spokesperson said during a regular press conference yesterday, adding that his 16-year-old girlfriend – also from Hong Kong – was caught taking drugs.

The teenager, surnamed Lee, was caught in the early hours of Sunday in Rua de Malaca in Zape with 20 packs of cocaine. Lee was picked up by PSP officers on routine patrol who had noticed his “suspicious” behaviour.

The unemployed youth told the police that he had been hired by the man to sell cocaine in Macau for a “salary” of HK$3,500 per day, the spokesperson said. Following his arrest, the police caught his girlfriend, surnamed So, taking drugs in the guestroom of a hotel in Zape where they were staying. In the room, the police found nine packs of cocaine. The estimated street value of the cocaine the police seized amounts to HK$35,000, according to the PSP spokesperson.

This handout photo provided by the Public Security Police yesterday shows PSP officers escorting the suspected Hong Kong male drug pusher and his girlfriend suspected of taking drugs to a PSP vehicle in Rua de Malaca in Zape on Sunday.
