The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a local couple on Monday for working with an overseas gang which had cheated a local woman out of HK$630,000 in a love scam by receiving the ill-gotten money in their bank accounts and then transferring the money to bank accounts overseas used by the gang, a PJ spokesperson said during a special press conference yesterday.
The spokesperson did not explain why the couple assisted the gang in cheating the victim.
The spokesperson identified the male suspect as a 62-year-old businessman surnamed Lei and his wife as a 42-year-old saleswoman surnamed Choi. The victim in her thirties works as a real estate agent.
