Newly-elected Legislative Assembly (AL) President Kou Hoi In took his oath of office for the second time in a week at Government Headquarters on Saturday, the legislature said in a statement on that day.

Saturday’s oath-taking ceremony overseen by Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On was held at Kou’s request, according to the statement, which did not mention why Kou had made the request.

According to local media reports, Kou omitted “Macau” when he read the oath during his swearing-in ceremony at the Macau Science Centre in Nape on Wednesday, after being elected the legislature’s new speaker during a plenary session of the legislature earlier that day. The lapse quickly became the talk of the town.
