As of yesterday, 186 employers and 8,000 employees had joined the Non-mandatory Central Provident Fund, according to Iong Kong Io, president of the Social Security Fund (FSS).

Iong revealed the figures on the sidelines of an award ceremony for employers who joined the fund at the Macau Science Centre in Nape yesterday.

The fund was implemented on January 1 last year. The legislature passed a government-initiated bill on the fund in May 2017. Only residents are entitled to join the fund.
