The Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) said in a statement yesterday that it has launched a scheme providing a subsidy of up to 1,500 patacas for senior citizens and people with disabilities who are receiving the bureau’s monthly subsidies for “impoverished” individuals or households to buy mobile phones.
The subsidy scheme aims to make it easier for “impoverished senior citizens and people with disabilities to obtain information”, the statement said.
However, those eligible for the scheme need to buy their mobile phones first before applying for the scheme, according to the statement.
