The police arrested a local woman working for the Health Bureau (SSM) on Tuesday for cheating her colleague by claiming she could help her transfer money to Thailand to buy a flat there, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Choi Ian Fai said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Choi identified the suspect as a 38-year-old local woman surnamed Lai. The victim is a local woman in her fifties. Her surname was not released. Both told the police that they are Health Bureau (SSM) staff.
Choi said that the victim was the suspect’s colleague and they had known each other for four years. Lai told the victim at the end of 2017 that she was familiar with the real estate market in Thailand and could assist the victim in buying a flat and help her transfer money to Thailand. The victim said she wanted to purchase a flat in Thailand for her retirement.
