The Macau Customs Service (AM) said in a statement yesterday that a man in a wheelchair from Hong Kong was found smuggling 208 mobile phones and 95 mobile phone chipsets at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Barrier Gate checkpoint when he was entering Macau.

According to the statement, the Macau Customs Service was tipped off by the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department on Friday that a man using a modified electric wheelchair as his cover would try to smuggle old mobile phones and phone components to Macau.

Customs officers at the checkpoint noticed a man in a wheelchair whose battery box looked suspicious. When the officers scanned the wheelchair they found 208 old mobile phones of the same brand and 95 different brand mobile phone chipsets hidden in the battery box.
