An on-duty Judiciary Police (PJ) officer was caught driving under the influence (DUI) when the officer’s police car hit a motorcycle in April, according to a statement on the website of the Secretary for Security earlier this week.
The PJ officer’s personal information was not revealed in the statement.
According to the website, the accident happened in the afternoon on April 19. The officer was driving the police car to a junction between Rua de Londres and Alameda Dr. Carlos d’Assumpção. After the accident the driver was taken to a Public Security Police (PSP) station for a breathalyser test. The result of the test showed that the officer’s alcohol concentration was 0.73 grammes of alcohol per litre of blood, the statement points out. The officer has been fined in accordance with the Road Traffic Law.
