The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a 43-year-old Hong Kong man on Friday for robbing valuables and cash from a fashion boutique and attempting to rape the female shop owner, a PJ spokesperson told a regular press conference on Saturday.

According to the spokesperson, the valuables – including a camera, a purse and a mobile phone – as well as the cash robbed by the suspect were worth 24,600 patacas.

The incident occurred on June 25. The suspect was brandishing a knife when he entered the fashion boutique in Rua da Restauração. He then threatened the female shop owner, who is in her twenties, with the knife and told her to hand over the cash and her mobile phone and camera.

No further details of the victim were disclosed.

The robber later told the woman to take off her clothes and attempted to tie her up with a pair of shoelaces and rape her.

The topless victim grabbed the suspect’s knife and tried to run out of the shop for help. However, the suspect dragged the victim back into the boutique and warned her not to scream or else he would ‘kill her’. The victim then locked herself in the shop’s toilet until the suspect left the boutique.
