The Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA) says that in an attempt to raise residents’ awareness of the city’s eco-protection zones and bird nesting areas, it has increased the number of trained volunteer guides through its “eco-fans” programme.
The bureau made the announcement last week in a written response to questions by The Macau Post Daily about its efforts to raise environmental awareness.
According to the response, the bureau launched the “eco-fans” programme in 2014, so far having recruited about 40 volunteer eco-guides including students and retirees. In an attempt to extend the programme, the bureau relaunched it earlier this year to raise the number to 100 guides, also known as “eco-fans”.
