The Infrastructure Development Office (GDI) in a statement yesterday expressed its sadness that a Qingmao project non-resident worker died after fainting at work, adding that the company who had hired him was requested to do its utmost to assist the worker’s family in coming to Macau to make arrangements for his funeral and to submit a report about the incident.
According to the statement, the incident occurred shortly after midnight when the worker was feeling ill while working and then fainted. The statement did not say how old the worker was, and neither did it reveal where he came from and if he sustained injuries in the incident.
The first-aider at the site immediately called the police after giving emergency first aid, according to the statement. The worker was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment. He died at about 1 a.m. yesterday.
