An armoured van caught fire outside the Macau Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal yesterday morning.
There were no valuables in the Guardforce van at the time it burst into flames, the driver of the vehicle told the media at the scene, explaining that he and two security staff were having lunch in the vehicle when they smelt something burning in the front of the vehicle, so he switched off the engine.
According to local media reports, the driver said that since it was hot, he started the engine again and after about two minutes, there was smoke coming from the left side of the front of the van. The driver also said he had tried using a fire extinguisher to put out the flames but it couldn’t.
