The local government held a series of events yesterday to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), including a solemn flag-raising ceremony and “Running in Celebration of the National Day” race, as well as a cultural show and fireworks display, according to a statement by the Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS).
The flag-raising ceremony took place in Praça Flor de Lotus in Zape in the morning.
Multiple giant screens were set up in various locations around the city for the live broadcast of the local flag-raising ceremony and the military parade in Beijing so that residents and tourists could experience the festive atmosphere, the statement noted.
