A non-resident female worker from the Philippines was bitten yesterday by a small snake on the lawn on the University of Macau (UM) campus.

Fire Services Bureau (CB) spokesman Lao Hou Wai told The Macau Post Daily last night that the victim is about 40 years old. Due to privacy reasons, the victim’s personal information was not released by the spokesman.

According to Lao, the Filipina was walking near Avenida da Saúde (“Avenue of Health”) when a little green snake suddenly appeared from a grassy area and bit her right leg. The snake vanished afterwards.

This undated photo retrieved from the online travel website Ctrip last night shows Avenida da Saúde on the University of Macau (UM) campus on Hengqin island where the incident happened yesterday.
