The Macau Customs Service said in a statement yesterday that its officers cracked a case of seafood smuggling at the customs station in Rua das Lorchas earlier this week, seizing 562.3 kilogrammes of undeclared and unquarantined seafood from the mainland.
According to the statement, the station’s coastal patrol conducted an inspection operation to monitor and inspect imported seafood on vessels docked in the Inner Harbour in the early hours of Monday morning, the statement noted.
During the operation, the customs officers saw that a vessel was being unloaded at the pier and immediately started to inspect its cargo. Among the unloaded seafood, a batch of undeclared and unquarantined seafood was found, including Chinese mitten crabs aka Shanghai Hairy Crabs, lobster and other kinds of shellfish, the statement underlined.
