The Public Security Police (PSP) arrested a mainlander last week for stealing money from a church donation box near Largo de Santo Agostinho, PSP spokesman Lam Keong said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Lam identified the suspect as a 33-year-old tourist surnamed Meng. He told the police that he comes from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and arrived at the local airport on Thursday, according to Lam.
The police received a telephone call from a member of the public about a man acting suspiciously in Largo de Santo Agostinho. Two minutes later, police officers on patrol nearby arrived at the scene and saw a man throw some cash into the bushes near Santo Agostinho Church, according to Lam.
