The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested two Hong Kong men for allegedly cheating a male mainlander out of 140,000 yuan (161,105 patacas) by claiming that they were running an online gambling website with a high rate of return, PJ spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said during a regular press conference yesterday.

According to Lei, the first suspect surnamed Chow, aged 61, told the police that he works in illegal money exchange activities in local casinos. The second suspect is a 65-year-old man surnamed Wong, who told the police that he is a businessman. The victim’s personal information was not revealed by the spokeswoman.

Lei said that the police believe there were more victims in the investment fraud.
